Personal Background
Born and raised in Switzerland, I discovered my passion for photography during my teenage years in the late 1970s. My journey began when my father brought me an analog Minolta X-series camera from Japan, sparking a fascination more with the technology than the photographs themselves. Equipped with a standard 50mm lens and two telephoto lenses gifted by a family friend, I embarked on my first steps into the world of photography.
Early Journey
Although I explored photography with enthusiasm in my youth, my focus shifted during my university years to other pursuits, such as motorbikes, skiing, and golf. As a result, photography temporarily took a back seat in my life.
Renewed Passion
At the turn of the millennium, the rise of digital compact cameras rekindled my interest in photography. Travel photography became my focus, and about a decade later, I sought greater creative control. This led me to invest in a Minolta D7000, along with a selection of prime and zoom lenses.
During this period, I expanded my portfolio to include landscapes and cityscapes. I immersed myself in learning, following renowned photographers online and experimenting with techniques such as long exposure photography.
Advancing in Digital Photography
As the era of digital mirrored cameras evolved, I acquired a Nikon D810 full-frame DSLR, complemented by the Nikon “holy trinity” of professional lenses. My passion for the technical side of photography grew, inspiring me to transition to Nikon’s mirrorless lineup. This shift marked a new chapter, where I delved into advanced techniques such as intentional camera movement (ICM) and fine art photography, while also mastering digital photo editing.
Recent Achievements
In 2024, my photographic journey reached a milestone when I had the opportunity to showcase my work in a photo exhibition in Bern, Switzerland. This accomplishment, made possible with the guidance of an experienced family friend and photographer, further solidified my ambition and commitment to the craft.
Portfolio & Future
My current focus lies in landscapes, cityscapes, and fine art photography, with a particular interest in exploring innovative techniques. Recently, I have been delving into “paintart,” a creative fusion of photography and digital painting, which allows me to blend realism with artistic expression. This evolving approach reflects my passion for pushing the boundaries of traditional photography to create unique and compelling visual narratives.
